Manchester City youngster Luke Mbete has joined Northampton Town on loan. The 21-year-old centre-back joined City from Brentford in 2016.

Mbete made his senior debut for City in the 2021 Carabao Cup and has made three appearances in total.

Manchester City youngster Luke Mbete has completed a season-long loan move to League One side Northampton Town.

“He fits our profile. He has great quality as a brave โปรโมชั่น ufabet defender but is also an intelligent footballer and good on the ball,” said Northampton boss John Brady.

The 21-year-old centre-back joined City from Brentford in 2016 and made his senior debut for the Citizens in the Carabao Cup in 2021, making three appearances in total.

Mbete has had loan spells at Championship side Bolton and Huddersfield, as well as Dutch second-tier side Den Bosch.

Brave, strong defender

Luke joined City as an Under-12 and is an accomplished left-footed centre back and a vocal presence on the pitch.

Following signing his scholarship in July 2020, Luke moved in to the EDS squad for 2020/21. An impressive season saw Luke help the EDS win the PL2 title and also feature in the matchday squad for the first-team on four occasions.

He subsequently made his senior City debut in September 2021 in our 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers.

While continuing to be a mainstay of the EDS side, Luke also featured on the first team bench several times.

Having signed a new contract extension with the Club in June 2022, Luke spent the first half of the 2022/23 season on loan with Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Mbete then spent the second halfof the 2022/23 season on loan with League One outfit Bolton Wanderers.

He continued to gain valuable experience away from City by spending the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Den Bosch. 

Now, he’ll play for Northampton Town in 2024/25.
